If you are unsure if pelvic floor physiotherapy is right for you, ask about our Discovery session. The Discovery session is complementary and is your opportunity to meet with a Pelvic Floor physiotherapist one on one to learn more about what they do, how they can help, and why they would be a good fit for you! It is also the opportunity to be able to explain to them what exactly the issue is and to get a general idea of a plan that would work well for you.
So what exactly is Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?
Pelvic floor dysfunction is a very common condition where you are unable to control, relax, or coordinate the pelvic floor muscles which can affect urination, bowel movements, sexual health, low back, and/or pelvic stability. After treating and speaking with our clients, we found that many people haven’t heard of pelvic health and pelvic floor physiotherapy. This evidence-based branch of physiotherapy focuses on treatment for the common conditions within the pelvis such as incontinence, frequency, urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain.
The ultimate goal is to improve your pelvic floor coordination and function and eliminate symptoms through an individualized program focusing on education, manual (hands-on) therapy, exercises, and lifestyle changes. This specialized type of therapy can not only increase your knowledge and awareness of your pelvic floor but also improve your quality of life.
